Drug research on how post menopausal women can boost sex drive achieved minimal results. The study used a testosterone spray that the women applied to their stomachs. The researchers had hoped that the women would regain their interest in sex and satisfaction from the sexual encounter.

The study used three strengths of testosterone and a placebo. The women did not know which they were using. The study involved 261 women. they had reported a decrease in sexual activity and tests showed they had low levels of testosterone. They were to put the spray on their stomach for four months.

The group of women who got the middle dose reported an increase in sexual satisfaction and hair growth on the area that the spray was applied.
